What are CA5 files and how to open them

Are you having problems opening a CA5 file or are you simply curious about its contents? We're here to explain the properties of these files and provide you with software that can open or handle your CA5 files.

What is a CA5 file?

A .CA5 file is a Calendar Creator 5 ClipArt Archive file.

Calendar Creator 5 ClipArt Archive (.CA5) is a file used by the Calendar Creator program to store clipart images and related layout objects that can be imported into calendar designs. It holds graphics (vectors or metafiles like WMF), backgrounds, decorative elements, layout templates and associated metadata so users can apply them when designing calendars inside Calendar Creator.

This file is created by the Calendar Creator software (version 5 specifically) and is read by that same program when selecting clipart or gallery content to include in a calendar project. It is not the main calendar document file (that is .CC5 / .BCC etc), but a supplemental archive for design assets used within calendar projects.

Inside, the file uses the OLE2 compound file structure, containing named streams and objects such as PICTUREMAPFILE, BACKGROUND, CLIPART, LAYOUTS, GENERAL CALENDAR, PICTURES and ROOT ENTRY. It also embeds .WMF (Windows Metafile) graphics. The file starts with the compound file header signature at byte offset 0: D0 CF 11 E0 A1 B1 1A E1.
