BUZ2 File

What are BUZ2 files and how to open them

Are you having problems opening a BUZ2 file or are you simply curious about its contents? We're here to explain the properties of these files and provide you with software that can open or handle your BUZ2 files.

What is a BUZ2 file?

A .BUZ2 file is a Buzzic 2 Module file.

Buzzic 2 Module files store songs composed with the Buzzic 2 music synthesizer by Stan of Rebels. These modules define musical content including instrument definitions, sequences of notes and effects, envelopes, and other data that Buzzic 2 uses to generate sound. A Buzzic 2 module holds everything needed to play the piece within the synthesizer, including sample or synthesized instrument settings.

Buzzic 2 modules are created by Buzzic 2 itself; the source release includes sample melodies and instrument samples packaged in files with this format. Users typically play, edit, or export these .BUZ2 files using Buzzic 2.

Files of this module format begin with the ASCII header signature "buz2" at the very start. Internally they contain keywords like SEQUENCE, NOTE, ADSR, OFFS, which identify key structures: note definitions, envelope shapes (Attack-Decay-Sustain-Release), sequence ordering, and data offsets.
