What are BRLYT files and how to open them

What is a BRLYT file?
A .BRLYT file is a Wii Binary Revolution Layout file.
Wii Binary Revolution Layout files store layout definitions used by Nintendo's Wii system to control how UI elements appear and are arranged in-game. These files define where graphics (textures), text, and interface panels are positioned, their size, rotation, color, and material settings. They coordinate with layout animations, font resources, and material data to build menus, banners, icons, and other HUD/UI components.
They are created as part of a game's development by Nintendo (or modders working with Nintendo's tools) and then read by the Wii itself when rendering its menu screens or user interface. The tools called by developers convert human-readable versions of layout definitions into this binary format so that the Wii firmware can efficiently load UI scenes stored inside resource archives. Modding tools also allow converting them to editable XML forms and back.
Files begin with an ASCII signature identifying them, followed by a header that includes version, byte order mark (to indicate endianness), total file size, and section count. One section, labeled "lyt1", includes overall layout settings such as width, height, and centering. Other sections list texture file names, materials, font references, user data, and define pane elements (such as "pan1" for panels, "pic1" for picture panes, "txt1" for text panes, window panes, and grouping sections) specifying positional, rotational, and scaling attributes.
The very first four bytes (offset 0) always spell "RLYT" in ASCII, distinguishing this format.
