BNDL File

What are BNDL files and how to open them

Are you having problems opening a BNDL file or are you simply curious about its contents? We're here to explain the properties of these files and provide you with software that can open or handle your BNDL files.

What is a BNDL file?

A .BNDL file is a Need For Speed Bundle file.

Need For Speed Bundle files store audio resources for certain titles in the Need for Speed series. They serve as archive containers created by Electronic Arts, primarily for holding in-game sounds, such as engine roars, sirens, and other effects used by the game's sound system. These containers are packed by the game's development system, not by external tools.

These files are written by Need for Speed games (for example, Need for Speed: Most Wanted) and are loaded by the game engine at runtime in order to play sound effects when players interact with the game world. They are not designed for direct editing or use outside the game; unpacking or modding usually requires custom tools developed by the game modding community.

Files begin with a fixed byte signature starting at offset zero: 62 6E 64 32 05 00 01 00 (ASCII "bnd2" followed by version and flags). This signature helps programs (such as TrID) recognize them as this specific bundle format.
