What is an AWSES file?

An .AWSES file is an Active WebCam Settings file.

Active WebCam Settings files store saved session configurations for the Active WebCam program by PY Software. They capture all the camera and recorder setup details so that a user can restart a monitoring session without re-entering each setting.

Every saved session holds references to every camera that Active WebCam has been set up to use, whether local USB/frame-grabber cameras, network IP cameras, or remote cameras via other instances of the program. It records how each camera should capture video and audio, how strong compression and broadcasting are configured, what recording parameters apply - including frame rate, video format, and where files go - and how motion detection or scheduling is handled.

The main creator and consumer of these files is Active WebCam by PY Software. That is the software used to save sessions into these files and later open them for reuse.

Files of this type often begin with the ASCII string "[Main]" followed by entries like NumberOfCamerasOnDesktop, and they contain internal sections keyed by names like CAMERAPARAMS0 to indicate per-camera configuration blocks.

How to open AWSES files
