ATA File
What are ATA files and how to open them
Are you having problems opening an ATA file or are you simply curious about its contents? We're here to explain the properties of these files and provide you with software that can open or handle your ATA files.
What is an ATA file?
An .ATA file is an Antenna Project file.
Antenna Project files store entire website projects created by the Antenna - Web Design Studio software from Julian Spencer. They hold all site structure, layout, page properties, style definitions, media linkages and publishing settings required to build and publish a website without hand-coding HTML. These files are used exclusively by the Antenna Web Design Studio program to design, edit and export web sites.
Antenna Web Design Studio generates these project files when a web designer builds a site visually - placing objects, defining layers, setting page properties, styling elements, adding media, specifying links, FTP settings and more. During development one opens, edits and previews the project in the software. When ready, the program exports the project by generating the HTML pages, images and other assets for deployment to a web host.
Internally the project file begins with a specific signature "QuickArchive.2003JulianSpencer" in ASCII at offset zero. It also contains multiple identifiable keywords and placeholders such as "%APPNAME%=ANTENNA", "PAGE_HTMLID0001", "PADDING", "FTPSETTINGS", "STYLEGLOBAL", "BACKCOLOUR", "CREATIONDATE", among others, which describe style sheets, layers, page identifiers, media paths, user settings, and publishing metadata.
