ASVF File
What are ASVF files and how to open them
Are you having problems opening an ASVF file or are you simply curious about its contents? We're here to explain the properties of these files and provide you with software that can open or handle your ASVF files.
What is an ASVF file?
An .ASVF file is an Asphyre Sphinx Archive file.
Asphyre Sphinx Archive File is a compressed container used by the Asphyre Sphinx framework to group together various media assets and resources in a single file. It is designed to let developers bundle fonts, images, configuration files (like XML), and other support files needed for 2D/3D applications or games under one archive, making deployment and resource management easier. Created by Afterwarp Development, Asphyre Sphinx is a graphics and application framework written in Delphi or FreePascal/Lazarus that handles rendering, input, and other core features.
Files in this archive format are produced by Asphyre Sphinx (or by its resource-management tool, AsphyreManager) during the packaging or exporting stage of a project. Once packaged, the archive is loaded by programs using the framework so that all its internal media contents can be accessed at runtime. When older archive files using the ASDB format appear, AsphyreManager automatically converts them into this file type.
A file of this type begins with the ASCII bytes "ASVF" at its very start (offset 0). At offset 32 there is a byte with value 0x40. Inside the archive are strings such as ".IMAGE" and ".XML", indicating embedded image files and XML-formatted data.
