What is an APPLE_PARTITION_MAP file?
The .apple_partition_map file extension is used for a proprietary system file format that was developed by Apple, Inc. These APPLE_PARTITION_MAP files are associated to APM (Apple Partition Map) schemes. These .apple_partition_map files were used in older Macintosh II and PowerPC Mac computers.Also known as Apple partition map files, the data stored in an APPLE_PARTITION_MAP file includes code and details of the low level data organization structures that are implemented in the hard disks of these old Mac computers. These disks are formatted for Macintosh II and PowerPC Macs, though Mac OS X also supports these disks and these .apple_partition_map files.It's best to leave these .apple_partition_map files alone. This is so Mac OS X and the systems of these older Mac computers can continue to work properly. These APPLE_PARTITION_MAP files do not contain human-readable data.
How to open APPLE_PARTITION_MAP files
Important: Different programs may use files with the APPLE_PARTITION_MAP file extension for different purposes, so unless you are sure which format your APPLE_PARTITION_MAP file is, you may need to try a few different programs.
