What is an AMW file?

An .AMW file is an Anark Media Workspace file.

Anark Media Workspace is a project file format used by the Anark Studio multimedia authoring tool made by Anark Corporation. It acts like a workspace container: when you are developing interactive multimedia content, this file stores the layout of your project - what assets are included, how they are organized, what your workspace settings are - so you can close and later resume development with everything in the same state. Its purpose is not to deliver the finished content itself but to keep track of what you are building within the authoring environment.

Anark Studio writes this file when you save a project workspace. During development you use it to preserve which tools, panels, assets, and scene setups are loaded. When you return to work, opening this file restores that workspace so you can pick up where you left off. It is not itself a playable presentation or media file; instead it references and organizes external assets which must be present for the project to function.

The format begins with distinct internal signatures: for example the ASCII string "A.N.A.R.K" appears within the header, with notable byte patterns at specific offsets (at offset 11 for example).

How to open AMW files

Important: Different programs may use files with the AMW file extension for different purposes, so unless you are sure which format your AMW file is, you may need to try a few different programs.
