What is an AMPLXEPROJ file?

An .AMPLXEPROJ file is an Intel VTune Amplifier XE Project file.

Intel VTune Amplifier XE writes a project file that serves as a container for performance analysis work - it stores the settings for what application is being profiled, which metrics or analysis types are selected, where to collect data, and holds links to the collected results. Created when a user launches a new performance profiling project in VTune Amplifier XE (for example via the standalone GUI or from Visual Studio), the project file lets the same configuration be reopened later.

The project file is produced by Intel VTune Amplifier XE, either when first setting up a project (choosing target application, analysis type, and project directory) or when modifying project settings for subsequent profiling sessions. After a project exists, VTune uses it to organize results files (*.amplxe) and analysis configurations under the project folder. Analysts reopen the project to run further analyses or explore previously collected performance data.

Internally the file has XML structure beginning with the declaration <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>. It includes identifiers such as ROOT, TYPE, AMPLIFIER, and others. Its content also contains strings like 32_T, INTE, TION that indicate its association with Intel's Amplifier framework.

How to open AMPLXEPROJ files

Important: Different programs may use files with the AMPLXEPROJ file extension for different purposes, so unless you are sure which format your AMPLXEPROJ file is, you may need to try a few different programs.
