ALGOBUILD File

What are ALGOBUILD files and how to open them

Are you having problems opening an ALGOBUILD file or are you simply curious about its contents? We're here to explain the properties of these files and provide you with software that can open or handle your ALGOBUILD files.

What is an ALGOBUILD file?

An .ALGOBUILD file is an AlgoBuild Project file.

AlgoBuild Project files store active algorithm projects created by the AlgoBuild software. They preserve the flowchart and/or pseudocode view of a student's algorithm design, including variables, control structures (like loops and conditionals), and display settings. These are used primarily in educational settings to build, test, and trace student programs.

Files of this format are written and read by the AlgoBuild program (versions around 0.85) when the user saves or resumes work on an algorithm project. They allow switching between graphical (flowchart) and textual (pseudocode) modes, executing the program within the environment, and observing variable states and instruction tracing during runtime.

Files begin with a unique header signature: at offset 0 the ASCII string "AlgoBuild01.00.PK …" (hex 41 6C 67 6F 42 75 69 6C 64 30 31 2E 30 30 0A 50 4B 03 04).
