What are AEDTHEME files and how to open them

What is an AEDTHEME file?

An .AEDTHEME file is an Ashampoo Burning Studio Autorun Editor Theme file.

Ashampoo Burning Studio Autorun Editor Theme files define the visual layout and graphics used by Ashampoo Burning Studio when creating an interactive autorun menu. These .AEDTHEME files store templates for themes (for example "Autumn" or "Beach") selected in the "New Disc + Autostart → Interactive Menu" wizard. They let users choose ready-made designs and also include settings for background images, buttons, layout, and display parameters for splash screens and graphics.

These theme files are created by Ashampoo Burning Studio (versions around 2019 through 2024 and likely continued in newer versions). The program writes a .AEDTHEME for each theme/layout option, and inside it are ZIP-style archives containing several image files (typically numbered image0.png through image9.png), XML configuration files (such as theme.xml and text#.xml) which specify layout elements (position, size, rotation, font, alignment), and resource files (icons, background music references). When burning a disc with autorun features, Burning Studio extracts these to build the autorun menu and splash.

The file format is ZIP-compressed archive at its core, identified by a ZIP local header signature at offset 0 ("PK\003\004"). Inside are PNG images (with IHDR, IDAT, IEND, SBIT chunks), XML files named theme.xml and text*.xml, and filenames like image0.png etc.

How to open AEDTHEME files

Important: Different programs may use files with the AEDTHEME file extension for different purposes, so unless you are sure which format your AEDTHEME file is, you may need to try a few different programs.
