What are ACDB files and how to open them

What is an ACDB file?

An .ACDB file is an Audio Calibration Database file.

Audio Calibration Database File (.acdb) is a binary data file used by Qualcomm's audio system on Android-based and similar devices to store audio tuning and calibration data. It contains definitions of hardware-specific calibration parameters, signal-processing graphs, voice or audio use-case configurations, and device topology that the system (or DSP) uses to adjust speaker, microphone, amplifier, and voice-call behavior for optimal audio quality.

The .acdb file is generated by Qualcomm's tuning tools (commonly QACT, now part of the AudioReach toolchain), which are used by audio engineers or device manufacturers. On boot or when audio hardware initializes, the device software loads one or more ACDB files via the libacdbloader library to set up calibration presets, processing modules, gain controls, and routing graphs. The calibration data is then sent into the device's audio signal-processing framework or DSP for runtime use. These files are also maintained in device firmware and vendor partitions and may be updated for new hardware, use-cases, or firmware revisions.

Internally, the file is identifiable by specific header/footer signatures and contains string tokens like "QCMSNDDB", "ADSPVERS", "DATAPOOL", "PROPLUT", "CDFT", "LUT0", among others. The signature "QCMSNDDB" appears at the very start (offset 0) as ASCII, and several internal sections are labeled with tags such as SWPNAME, CDOT, OEMINFO, and CDFT used to organize versioning, module properties, lookup tables, and calibration pools.

How to open ACDB files

Important: Different programs may use files with the ACDB file extension for different purposes, so unless you are sure which format your ACDB file is, you may need to try a few different programs.
