What are ~CR files and how to open them
Are you having problems opening a ~CR file or are you simply curious about its contents? We're here to explain the properties of these files and provide you with software that can open or handle your ~CR files.
What is a ~CR file?
The .~cr file extension is used as a temporary file format, which was developed by WinRecovery Software. Also known as recovered image files, these ~CR files are also classified as recovered file types. A .~cr file is normally generated by the CardRecovery program, which is a data recovery tool that was also created by WinRecovery Software. In some instances, renaming the .~cr file extension to a standard image file extension like .jpg or .png may enable image viewers and editing applications to open these ~CR files. However, if the digital images stored in the .~cr file were not completely and properly recovered, then damages like incomplete or chopped graphics, lines, squares and so on may appear in the images. There are also some instances when the CardRecovery software fails to partially recover an image, and this results to a ~CR file that may not open even when the .~cr file extension is replaced with .jpg, .png or .bmp.The CardRecovery software can be used to open these .~cr files. As mentioned earlier, when the .~cr file extension of these recovered image files has been changed to .jpg, .png or .bmp, standard image viewers and graphics editing applications can be used to open and view the content of these ~CR files.
