What is FontLab Studio?

FontLab Studio is a solution for professional font editing. In effect, it is a typeface and font maker and editor. The program is in fact one of the better-known applications of its kind, especially given its usage of some of the bigger names in font makers and users in the world. Examples include IBM, Apple, Microsoft, Monotype, and Adobe. Practically all the currently used outline formats are compatible with the program too, from TrueType to OpenType. It works with both Windows and Mac setups.

The program can import as well as export as many as 65,535 glyphs in various formats. It has tools for drawing, erasing, vector painting, mirroring, composting, interpolation, intersecting contours, skewing, stretching, scaling and more. Actions as well as Python-based filters are found in the software too, ranging from Autohint to Mosaic. It has wide-ranging support too for the vast majority of encodings and codepage possibilities, and supports myriad options for printouts, from font tables to kerning tables. The software requires at least 64MB of RAM and runs on both x86 and x64 architecture versions of Windows—the developer also supplies it with a 60-day money-back guarantee.
