What is ArchiCAD?
ArchiCAD is a Building Information Modeling (BIM) CAD program developed by Graphisoft for both Windows and Mac OS X computers. The program provides applications for all aspects of creating a built environment, from the building to the interior design.
The program allows for the creation of 2D drawings and 3D renditions of building designs. It allows for the integration of parametric objects into the design, enabling the user to create a simulation of the actual building or other architectural/construction project that is about to be built. It also provides a desktop publishing tool that enable the user to create print materials for the documentation of the project.
The Teamwork function of the program project allows a team of designers, architects and other persons involved with the project to work simultaneously on different parts of the project, or aspects of the project assigned to them.
ArchiCAD provides support for DWG (DraWing), DXF (Drawing Interchange Format/Drawing Exchange Format) and IFC (Industry Foundation Classes) files. The software is available in several languages including English, German, Spanish, French, Italian, Portuguese, Russian, Japanese, Dutch, Finnish and Greek. The 30-day free trial of the software includes all the functions of the program.
