What is Windows Grep?

Windows Grep is a search tool for text strings that users want to find on their computer systems. To be exact, it is a search and replace tool, so the instances of the specified text strings it discovers can be overwritten with other text strings as specified by the user. Users can also perform their replacements as manual edits by opening the search results.

While the program is often used by those already familiar with Grep tools, it nevertheless includes a Beginner mode with a virtual assistant for those new to the process. Both UNIX-style and Plain TXT files are scraped by the program during its searches, and even binaries as well as archived files are included in the search. Users wanting to save the results of their searches in a handy format can keep them as HTML files or even print them out. The program even allows search parameter saving to make repetitive search processes easier to carry out for the user.

The program can be used for a graphical user interface, but it also offers a command line option. It is classed as licensed/paid Shareware.
