What is WinBoard Startup Dialog?

Winboard is a graphical chessboard made for the X Windows System. It can serve as a user interface for GNU Chess, Crafty, Internet Chess, and other types of chess engines.

WinBoard runs on the 32-bit Microsoft Windows operating system – This includes Windows 95, Windows 98, Windows NT, Windows 2000, Windows ME, and Windows XP. It is programmed to continue to work on upcoming 32-bit Windows systems. However, this program does not work on Windows CE, which is also known as Pocket PC, or on a 16-bit Windows operating systems like Windows 3.1. This program shows a chessboard on screen, and accepts moves made with the mouse. It loads and saves games found inside the Portable Game Notation. When users change the Winboard.ini file, they can pick which chess game will run inside the startup dialog when they open Winboard.
