Vault Basic

If you are looking for Vault Basic, you have come to the right place. We explain what Vault Basic is and point you to the official download.

What is Vault Basic?

Vault Basic is part of the Autodesk Vault family of data management programs, with the others being Autodesk Vault Workgroup and Autodesk Vault Professional. The program is installed on the client side of a network, to enable them to connect to the server (Data Management Server) and database management system (SQL Database). The client application is generally installed on computers of users within a network, who are part of the design team. This allows them to collaborate with other team members on the design of models for a specific project.

All data stored in SQL database can be accessed by all clients installed with Vault Basic, which then allows them to edit these. Any data that has been edited, and uploaded back to the database, can be viewed and accessed by all users. Files that are opened for editing are “checked-out” from the database, and unless these are checked back in to the database, any changes will not be visible to all users.

Vault Basic features the following functions: file management, single workgroup capability, Autodesk CAD integration, and reusable designs.
