What is UltraMixer?

UltraMixer is a DJ application that is used by digital or virtual DJs, whose work does not use traditional DJ implements as vinyl or CDs but digital music like MP3 or FLAC. Written in Java and C++, UltraMixer is chiefly aimed for DJs who are mobile and are often called to design the music and audio entertainment for major events, schools, and restaurants. According to its developer, UltraMixer Digital Audio Solutions (headquartered in Dresden), this is the first DJ software available for all three major operating systems – Windows, Mac, and Linux – since its release in 2003.

The main interface of UltraMixer consists of two independent decks, each of which is a player. The tracks can be modified and adjusted as they play with such DJ mainstay features like mixing, cross fading and track effects, plus time stretching capabilities so tracks with differing speeds can be normalized against each other without having to adjust pitch. It also features an equalizer to suit the acoustics of a particular venue.

UltraMixer supports the most common audio formats like MP3, FLAC, AAC, and M4A, and even Audio CDs.
