Tracktion

If you are looking for Tracktion, you have come to the right place. We explain what Tracktion is and point you to the official download.

What is Tracktion?

Tracktion is an audio authoring and editing program. It was released for Windows, Mac OS X, and Linux systems and is known for several features that at the time of its release were relatively new to software of its type: for instance, the virtual and non-modal interface design of the software, which eventually became more common in DAWs (digital audio workstations). Another example would be its introduction of reversible MIDI track conversion for optimization of system resource usage.

The Tracktion interface is also tabbed to facilitate multi-project workflow. Its panels are adaptive and respond to user activity and a system resource monitor is constantly on-screen to let users know whether or not they should take steps to free up resources, such as by using the program’s freeze point function. It can condense multiple tracks into one audio clip without losing multitrack editing capabilities and supports various VST plug-ins. Mixers looking for automation in their instrument or plug-in management can make use of the program’s automation features as well. The program’s mixer and other features support drag and drop too, whether for effect assignment, file importing, or even automation enabling operations.
