TOPO! Explorer

If you are looking for TOPO! Explorer, you have come to the right place. We explain what TOPO! Explorer is and point you to the official download.

What is TOPO! Explorer?

TOPO! Explorer is a program from National Geographic that relies on US Geological Survey data to deliver cartographic information for the US. As map reference software, the program is marketed for outdoor recreation and travel enthusiasts such as hikers and trail-makers. It allows users to download up-to-date maps from the USGS that include points of note for recreational travel.

The National Geographic National Recreation database is also accessible via the program, which affords users the ability to see more than maps and markers denoting points of interest: videos, images, and a variety of other media are found on the database to help users better see the values of particular locations. And since the software is capable of generating customized maps as well, uses can make their own info- and media-rich maps to share with others, either by publishing it online or printing it.

Users can use it with compatible portable reception devices from Lowrance, Garmin, Magellan and Eagle—Magellan users with the Triton can also port maps straight to their devices. Both Mac and Windows systems are supported and users need to be online for the software to work as intended.
