What is The Print Shop PressWriter?

Broderbund Software’s Print Shop Press Writer, part of the venerable Print Shop suite of desktop publishing applications targeted mainly for casual desktop publishing aficionados, available for both Windows and Macintosh (prior to the OS X versions). Press Writer claims that I can create and print such desktop publishing standard needs like newsletters, brochures, envelopes, resumes, flyers, and booklets. Press Writer can be purchased as a stand-alone application or as part of the Print Shop Deluxe set.

Press Writer also offers several templates to create the aforementioned items, but users who are comfortable with the software can instead use the “Custom” option to jump right into the workspace and design their project from scratch (otherwise, the software will guide the user through a step-by-step procedure in making one – from selecting what type of project, to a template, and so on). It contains several graphic object library – for example the Macintosh version has about 700 in a single category – which can be mix-and-matched with other design elements to create a custom project.

Press Writer was later discontinued and its capabilities merged into the other Print Shop software.
