What is SSH Secure Shell?

SSH Secure Shell Client is software from SSH Communications Security that allows network administrators to access remote computers without rendering the system, application or program vulnerable to security risks, i.e. unauthorized access to the system or application. In other words, the program provides a security system to encrypt connection between client and server. The software is utilized for file transfers, terminal access and application tunneling.

The program provides the user with a command-line option to log-in and access a remote terminal, execute file transfer or remotely control an application. A Graphical User Interface (GUI) is also provided that allow for the configuration of the communication between the client and server for a specific task, i.e. application tunneling, network authentication, or data transfer.

SSH Secure Shell Client provides support for a number of operating environments, including Oracle Solaris (SPARC and x86-64), Oracle Linux (x86-64), SUSE Linux Enterprise Desktop (x86 and x86-64), SUSE Enterprise Linux Server (x86 and x86-64), Microsoft Windows (x86 and x64), VMWare ESX Server and Red Hat Linux IBM System z (64-bit).
