What is Splash?

Splash is a compact media player whose main feature is its capability to play HD movies. Developed by Mirillis Ltd., the software features hardware-accelerated decoding and software decoding that enables it to play HD movies smoothly. For video playback, Splash PRO provides support for the following video types: MPEG-4 AVC/H.264, MPEG-2, SMPTE VC-1, DivX, WMV, MPEG-1 and DV.

For audio playback, the software supports AC-3, MPEG Layer I and II, AAC LC, HE-AAC, Vorbis, FLAC, WMA, LPCHM, and HD audio codes. The player is also able to display subtitles, providing support for the following subtitle files and formats: TXT, SUB, SRT, SSA, PGS, SRT, and AAS.

In addition, the program allows for the automatic detection of High Definition camera recorders (camcorders), enabling instant playback. It also displays an interactive menu for HD camcorders. The user interface can be customized, particularly in its language settings; with the program providing support for more than twenty languages, from Aramaic to Bulgarian, Chinese Simplified and Chinese Traditional; to German, Italian, Japanese, Norwegian, Portuguese, Romanian, Russian, Spanish, Turkish and Ukrainian.
