If you are looking for Songsmith, you have come to the right place. We explain what Songsmith is and point you to the official download.
What is Songsmith?
The Songsmith is a software from Microsoft that creates a musical accompaniment for a singer’s voice. The basic functionality of the procedure is as follows: choose a preference for a musical style, sing into the microphone as the program runs, and then a musical accompaniment is rendered as backing music. The software is also able to share the recording along with the musical accompaniment to a website of the user’s choice. It was developed by a Microsoft Research team under the leadership of Dan Morris and Sumit Basu; it was originally called MySong as a joint project along with University of Washington student, Ian Simon.
The software has a free trial version that has full functionality and is available for download; subsequent use after the trial version requires payment for the full version that is available in the online Microsoft store. To install the software, download the client and double-click the Songsmith setup. Wait for the download and setup of the software; it can then be used afterwards.
Basic system requirements for the software are a microphone, a Windows XP, Windows Vista, Windows 7 or Windows 8 system, and the Microsoft .NET framework 3.0.
