What is SoftEther VPN Client?
SoftEther VPN is a program that was designed by Daiyuu Nobori for his graduate thesis: it is currently available as freeware that users can leverage in order to set up their own virtual private network or VPN. It is compatible with multiple operating systems, including Windows and Mac OS X, as well as the Android, Windows and iOS for smartphones. Users can create both site to site and remote access networks using the program, which is also equipped with L2TP/IPsec server functionality.
The software also uses a unique SSL-VPN protocol that translates to its VPNs running off the HTTPS instead of HTTP model. A lot of corporate or business firewalls hinder exterior access to their networks unless HTTPS is involved in order to secure company data against outsiders. Unfortunately, this means that there may be occasions when employees will find themselves unable to access company networks from certain locations, such as when using the Internet connections at public places. SoftEther bypasses this restriction and allows employees secure access to company networks no matter where they are. Users are also protected from Heartbleed security issues when using the program.
