Snagit

If you are looking for Snagit, you have come to the right place. We explain what Snagit is and point you to the official download.

Snagit is a screen capture application developed by Techsmith, which not only captures a still image of the screen (which the handy Print Screen key on most keyboards are for), but also for capturing playing video or audio output when its capture function is executed. Snagit has been first rolled out in 1990 and has since been localized into many languages, such as French, German, Japanese, and Korean, on top of its default English language, and was initially intended only for Windows platforms. However, in recent years, the clamor among Mac users has escalated to the point that Techsmith has also developed an exclusive Mac version.

Snagit, when installed, replaces the default function of the print screen command and enhances it with additional features, which includes the aforementioned media output capture. These features are especially handy for technical writers, who welcome its scrolling page screenshots and edge-trimming function, among others. Snagit also allows batch-capturing of embedded objects in a particular screen, including media and links (and the data associated with the links in the captured screen). All these abilities can be set using keyboard shortcuts that the user can set beforehand.

Snagit Accessories are Snagit addons that augment Snagit’s impressive array of capabilities.
