What is RootsMagic?

RootsMagicis an application that is used in creating individual profiles of people so they can be searchable. The system can be used in performing genealogy. The software is developed by the company of the same name – RootsMagic.

When installed, users can have access to several menus and tools that let them navigate the each blank profile. The menus are arranged logically so they can be explored easily even by novice users. The set of menus and tools are called RootsMagic Essentials' and this is where pertinent information about a person can be added. Users may also add blank fields to make the details more specific and searchable. Multimedia items such as digital photos, audios, and videos can also be linked with a specific person’s profile.

RootsMagic also lets users search through thousands of databases to check relationships and family roots. Information on adoption can also be obtained using the search tool. Users may extract information from the search option and create a report about a family history. The software also includes a SourceWizard that helps users generate a report and citations by simply following its prompt
