RETAS STUDIO is a type of animation software from Celsys. RETAS STUDIO combines PaintMan, CoreRETAS, Stylos, TraceMan, and other RETAS (Revolutionary Engineering Total Animation System) suits into a single software. RETAS is a type of 2D animation software. It was developed and sold by Celsys, and is available for both Mac OS X and Microsoft Windows. It is used by anime artists in Japan, and handles a lot of animation productions from tracing, digital drawing, and exporting using Adobe Flash and QuickTime.
PaintMan is a digital painting tool that promises a quality finish and good efficiency. It tackles all of the finishing processes, from color styling, painting in-betweens, and special effects. The Automatic Gap Close function automatically stops painting when it spots a gap inside the line, improving its painting efficiency. This function lets users pick the Light Table color for painting. The airbrushing tool is also available for the same purpose. Other functions for RETAS STUDIO’s PaintMan include painting colors with a transparency by picking an alpha channel, and letting users pick a 3-color gradient to perk up usability.
