What is RagTime?
RagTime is the software used for desktop publishing. Some of its features are word processing, spreadsheet creation and multimedia embedding. RagTime documents may contain, in a single file, multiple spreadsheets, databases, graphics, word processing, and programmable objects. This software can also be extended via plug-ins such as geo-reference mapping.
The RagTime software was initially created by the German company B and E Sotware GmbH only for Apple Macintosh computers; however, the versions released starting 1998 also accommodated Windows operating systems. This software is also less costly that other major desktop publishing programs while still containing true page layouts and spreadsheet integration. On the other hand, not all versions carry the spell checker and hyphenation functions and the manual must be downloaded separately.
The RagTime software is compatible with various operating systems including Windows 98, Windows 95, NT4, SP4, Macintosh OS 8.1, 9.1 and above. This software is available in French, Dutch, German and English. It also imports files from Excel, RTF, Word and graphic formats and exports as EPS, WMF PDF and PS. The RagTime software also allows for color separation, table of contents and index automatic generation, footnotes management and unlimited master pages.
