If you are looking for Python, you have come to the right place. We explain what Python is and point you to the official download.

What is Python?

Python is a programming language that is classified as a high-level and general-purpose language whose main selling points are its extensive code readability. Its implementation, CPython, is open-source, and the source code can be acquired free of charge, hosted by the Python Software Foundation. Additionally, one of Python’s design philosophies is to make coding for developers as easy and as fun as possible, with its name even referencing Monty Python, and some of its components and features are directly lifted from the Monty Python franchise and other Easter eggs from pop culture. The first implementation of Python came about in 1989 and was first seen as the successor of the ABC programming language.

Python is one of the very first languages to support multiple programming paradigms. This means that while other programming languages force developers and programmers to learn a single type of programming language and syntax, Python allows these users to use different styles, such as object-oriented programming and structured programming, and enables them to mix and match as needed. The latest Python releases and most of its alternative implementations are also community-based, and supports an extensible and modular framework so addons, plugins, and other similar pieces of code can be used to augment its functionalities.

File.org aims to be the go-to resource for file type- and related software information. We spend countless hours researching various file formats and software that can open, convert, create or otherwise work with those files.

If you have additional information about which types of files Python can process, please do get in touch - we would love hearing from you.
