Garden Gnome Software’s Pano2VR is software capable of creating Flash-based interactive media files out of regular panorama photos. The basic concept would be for the a user to take a panorama covering all 4 walls of a room, then using Pano2VR to stitch them together into a three-dimensional image file that a viewer can interact with using buttons that move his line of sight left, right, or even up and down.
The program can create these interactive media files out of panoramas, multiple images covering various angles or sides of a single area, and even QuickTime VR inputs. The software also supports JPEG, PSD, TIFF, PNG, Radiance HDR, and OpenEXR input files, among others. Output possibilities are Flash, QuickTime VR and HTML. The program provides users with tools too for adding interactive controls (directional buttons, for instance), audio, text, and other elements.
The software is often used to create tours of locations, especially for the travel and real estate industries, since it helps to convey a space’s properties more realistically than regular images. Users can get versions of it for Linux, Mac OS X, and Windows.
