What is NNDD?
NNDD is a unique web browsing application with a very limited, very specific function: connecting the user to Niconico and downloading media from the site. Niconico, which was formerly known as Nico Nico Douga, is a video hosting website and arguably one of the most popular in the world. By 2011, there were well over 23 million registered users (and potentially even more unregistered ones). A Japanese-language site, it is known for the strong presence of anime and computer gaming culture in its hosted videos. Some of the videos uploaded to it has been original anime series designed for Web release.
NNDD is a program that allows users to access the Niconico website and view it as they would on regular browsers: with the added function, of course, of downloading videos hosted on the site if the user desires. Videos can be downloaded and played/viewed in the application concurrently, and videos can be compiled into a user-defined playlist. Users can also download the tags and comments on videos.
The program requires Adobe AIR technology to work and is compatible with Ubuntu, Windows and Mac systems.
