What is Nero SoundTrax?
Nero SoundTrax is part of the humongous Nero Multimedia Suite, and is meant to create audio CDs with multi-track capabilities, with a host of mixing features thrown in. This should not be confused with the far newer Nero Wave Editor, which is a full-featured, semi-professional sound editor that is used even in the industry to edit sound; the Nero SoundTrax is only for mixing and authoring music that can be burned to an audio CD or else create a music playlist, and not exactly meant for clipping sounds, multiplexing, and all the advanced sound editing features the Wave Editor can offer. That said, however, with Nero SoundTrax one can actually create a retail-level music CD or track list with a lot of options and no overbearing restrictions on the files it could support, letting a user mix the tracks with effects and control its behavior, such as adding surround sound, reverb, bass boost, and so on. It can also rip from and burn tracks to CDs when the remix project is done.
Although far from professional level, the Nero SoundTrax somewhat approaches this with its two addons, the SoundBox and the ScratchBox, which can create custom audio clips and let you act as a DJ with a digital vinyl deck, respectively.
