nanoCAD

If you are looking for nanoCAD, you have come to the right place. We explain what nanoCAD is and point you to the official download.

What is nanoCAD?

nanoCAD is a design program with native support for DWG files. While it is a free utility, it does not depart from the key interface features of professional (and paid) CAD programs, supposedly to make the user migration experience simpler and more intuitive. Its use of the industry-supported DWG format also makes files created with it compatible with most other programs of the same type, besides permitting the software to perform auditing, recovery and purging operations.

While most of the literature marketing the product sells it as a 2D drafting utility, nanoCAD is actually equipped with tools for drafting in both 3D and 2D. It also includes its own spreadsheet data editor, with support for user-generated macros using Windows-compatible languages. Users with advanced programming skills can also build specific utilities or added abilities in the program using any of the APIs for it.

Although the program is entirely free, a zero-cost registration is required for the user to run the utility out of demo mode. As the demo mode places a watermark on all saved files, registration is largely to the user’s advantage. Registration grants the user a year’s license to use the software as he sees fit, after which he shall only need to go through the registration process again to keep using it.
