What is MySpaceIM?

MySpace IM is an instant messaging service for MySpace users. The messaging service allows the user to import their friends from MySpace into the Contacts feature of the service. Through the IM service, users are able to chat with their friends, or make online calls either through the service itself or through Skype. A Skype call button is provided on the program interface. The user needs to import their contacts from Skype in order to take advantage of the Skype call feature.

Users receive alerts when a new message is sent, or when someone wants to add them to their contact list. Users may also set an offline message, enable the program to retain message history, and allow the program to play sounds. Users may likewise change skins and IM picture. IM pictures may be that of the user’s own photo or from the avatars provided by the program. Privacy, startup and connection settings may be configured.

All these options can be accessed under the Preference tab on the user interface. These are categorized as follow: General, Privacy, Appearance, Contact List, Alerts & Sounds, Emoticons and Zaps, Message History, and Connection.
