What is MyDVD Basic?
MyDVD Basic is the OEM version of the MyDVD software, which are bundled as free software with partner PC manufacturers, such as HP. MyDVD Basic has essentially the same features as the retail version, but with simplified tools and interface.
Roxio’s MyDVD, or more properly as MyDVD VideoLab HD, is a rebranded MyDVD application from Sonic Solutions, which Roxio acquired a few years ago. It incorporates the features of Sonic Solutions’ MyDVD while injecting some new ones. Like its predecessor, MyDVD VideoLab HD is a DVD authoring solution that comes packaged with a lot of video-editing features and tools to make it easier for the average home consumer to create, edit, and pack a DVD movie from the get-go, without having to learn extensive know-how about video creation. The MyDVD VideoLab HD is primarily intended for beginners and intermediate users, but is not short on semi-professional features that are typically the hallmarks of more powerful and more expensive suites. The Roxio MyDVD VideoLab HD is priced at $49.99 and is available in digital and physical editions.
Like most DVD authoring tools, the MyDVD VideoLab HD has a huge library of custom menus, animated effects, themes, and the like, plus the ability to burn into DVD, AVCHD, and Blu-Ray. It supports 4 video effects (Aged Film, Newsprint, Interference, and Skew), plus 2D to 3D conversion capabilities. Additionally it supports advanced video editing, streaming media capture straight from your browser, and direct sharing to YouTube, Facebook, and the like.
