What is mIRC?
mIRC is Internet Relay Chat client for Windows platform that is used by individuals and organizations to play, share, communicate and work with each other through IRC networks. It can accommodate one-on-one private conversations or multiuser group conferences. Its practical interface is configurable and convenient to use. It supports features including multi-server connections, buddy lists, file transfers, IPv6, proxy support, SSL encryption, UPnP, UTF-8 display, spoken messages, customizable sounds, message logs, tray notifications and more.
The application uses a programming language that can automate mIRC and create programs that serve multiple functions such as playing games and network communications among others. The language script gets more developed with every version. It can change custom commands [aliases] or completely change the appearance and behavior of mIRC. It has file sharing features through DCCC protocol with a built-in file server.
mIRC has its own graphical user interface scripting editor. Aside from IRC related commands and functions, it also supports calling DLLs, dialog boxes, sockets, COM objects and more. It can used also as a media player, an IRC bot, mIRC games and other entertainment purposes and as Web HTML parser.
mIRC version 5.91 is the last version to support Windows 16bit editions. Version 6.35 is the last version to support Windows ME, 95, 98 and NT 4.0. The current version provides support for Windows 2000 and later versions.
