Microsoft SQL Server Profiler is an application that allows users to monitor Database Engine instances using a GUI for SQL Trace. This application is also used for generating Analysis Services by capturing and saving data regarding an event. These events or tables can be analyzed at a later time.
Using this profiler, users can check the production environment of a system to analyze and identify the stored procedures which have direct effects on the overall performance of a system. By doing so, reasons behind the slow performance of the system can be identified and eventually addressed. This application is used for various activities including the conduct of investigations to find root cause of technical glitches. Microsoft SQL Server Profiler can also be utilized for diagnosing different slow-running applications.
