Microsoft Office Groove
If you are looking for Microsoft Office Groove, you have come to the right place. We explain what Microsoft Office Groove is and point you to the official download.
What is Microsoft Office Groove?
Microsoft Office Groove, which is now known as the Microsoft SharePoint Workspace, is a group collaboration software that is primarily concerned with facilitating joint input of group members for a certain project, discussion, or action. The main feature of Groove is the workspace, or the working area of the group, which is essentially the “table” where group members put their files, notes, and other such objects for the perusal of other members, plus some tools to make sharing and collaboration easy and convenient. These features include, but not limited to, a persistent chat feature, network security, ad hoc group formation, and firewall/NAT transparency. Groove was first developed by Groove Networks, which was later acquired by Microsoft in 2005.
What makes Groove important is not only because it can easily share files between the members of a team, but that these same files can be shared even if they are offline, if they are not in the same network (for example long distances), or if they are in the same network but have differing levels of network security clearance. Such a software is mostly useful for emergency workers (such as in the military and civilian agencies), who need to be updated on each other’s doings but are restricted with normal security protocols due to the nature of their job.
