MaxQi
If you are looking for MaxQi, you have come to the right place. We explain what MaxQi is and point you to the official download.
What is MaxQi?
MaxQi is another name for Fairy-Max, which, in turn, is based from the 100-line micro-Max chess program. Micro-Max contains a table-driven move generator. Fairy-Max lets its direction specify the nature of the move, along with its second move step. Therefore, this software has the ability to play all of Xiangqi’s pieces. But it still won’t be able to play Xiangqi since the board only contains 8 ranks. Fairy-Max also cannot restrict the chess pieces to a sub-set of the board.
Users can implement the board zones by using a board-sized table which indicates one half of the board by setting one bit, and the other half through setting another. These newly-assigned portions in the move rights for every direction indicate if this move prevents the piece in entering the square, for which the matching piece in this table was assigned. These are then used to stop elephants from crossing the river, and Kings and Guards from leaving the palace. It may be small in size, but MaxQi has an advanced search, although it lacks the area of evaluation. It contains an alpha/beta search, a quiescence search, futility pruning, and allows users to make late-move reductions. It can also check extensions. An Internal Iterative Deepening is present in every mode.
