What is Mastercam X?

Mastercam X is an impressive CAD/CAM application for designing parts and creating full machining operations. It is constructed to demonstrate numeric data using a default Metric or Inch base unit of measure. Users have the option to switch between these measurement systems whenever the part data requires the shift.

To provide the user experience for their customers, CNC Software is persistent in reviewing the operating system requirements for Mastercam. Mastercam X7 will be the final major release that support Windows 7 32-bit OS. They are targeting to release Window 7 64-bit and Windows 8 64-bit only. This decision is based on the company’s gathered information, which shows that many users are already using 64-bit systems, that is faster and can deliver a more stable environment. Mastercam runs on Windows 7 or Windows 8 Professional editions and other versions such as Home Edition. This software is becoming a multi-core processor sensitive with each release, resulting in a faster Toolpath calculation and Simulation. A 50% reduction in toolpath calculation time is expected with the introduction of Intel i7 processor.
