The Macromedia (now Adobe) Extension Manager is the central application for managing extensions for the Creative Suite family of software from Adobe. With the Adobe Extension Manager (whose version is always simultaneous with the rest of the CS family), a user can manage, maintain, and update the extensions installed for specific Creative Suite programs, most notably Adobe Fireworks, Adobe Dreamweaver, and Adobe Flash; in fact, the Adobe Extension Manager is a free component of the CS line and is installed automatically once any of the three are installed on the user’s device. It also enables the user to add and remove specific extensions for a specific CS application, find information about the installed extensions on your Creative Suite applications, and even to browse the Adobe Exchange website, where you can browse for more extensions, download the ones you like, and rate the extensions you’ve used and participate in community feedback for these extensions.
Extensions are little pieces of software that are essentially plugins or add-ons for the Adobe Creative Suite products, some of which are developed by third-party developers that augment the existing capabilities of the products they are “extending”, or even add new features to the core program.
File.org aims to be the go-to resource for file type- and related software information. We spend countless hours researching various file formats and software that can open, convert, create or otherwise work with those files.
If you have additional information about which types of files Macromedia Extension Manager can process, please do get in touch - we would love hearing from you.
