Live2D Cubism refers to the Live2D Cubism Editor, which is used to convert 2D drawings into dynamic and poseable models. The program is actually composed of two distinct applications: the Animator and the Modeler. The latter is the starting program, the means through which a flat 2D model can be mapped and converted into texture assets. These texture assets are composed of two-dimensional polygons that map the entire drawing magnetically and make use of a dust removal feature to achieve smooth image dynamics when the model is manipulated. The actual motions can be controlled by numerical parameters through multi-axial coordinate selection. This is what turns 2D models into “animatable”, dynamic forms.
Live2D Cubism is also equipped with the capacity to replace texture assets as needed, which means a user can start from a single stock model, then create variations of it by changing elements such as apparel or hair. For actual, full-on animation control, the user can import the finished model into Animator, which has a multiplicity of features for animators: lip synch simulation, video animation timelines, camera manipulation, multi-model support for each stage, and so on.
File.org aims to be the go-to resource for file type- and related software information. We spend countless hours researching various file formats and software that can open, convert, create or otherwise work with those files.
If you have additional information about which types of files Live2D Cubism can process, please do get in touch - we would love hearing from you.
