What is Live Aquarium HD?
The Live Aquarium HD application from Ashampoo is not terribly complex about its purposes, even if it does pursue them with unusual attention to detail. The application is basically just a utility that lets users have a high-definition animated visual of a live aquarium as their screensaver.
The visuals in the screensaver are based on a coral reef setting. High levels of detail and biological accuracy have been aimed for by the application’s designers, who have also provided for a completely interactive environment for the 3D fish inhabiting the scene. These fish can not only swim through gaps in the reef or dart about holes in the coral structures but also exhibit highly complicated, realistic movements. The default program comes equipped with as many as 25 distinct species that users can pack into the aquarium at whatever density they like, but there are other species available if the user is willing to pay for them. The program also provides ambient sounds with the visuals, along with other realistic effects such as iridescence on fish and true-to-life water surfaces. Furthermore, users with 3D gear can take advantage of their equipment to get even more out of the program.
