If you are looking for LightZone, you have come to the right place. We explain what LightZone is and point you to the official download.

What is LightZone?

Originally developed by the now non-existing software company LightCrafts, LightZone is a software that is mainly used as a photo editing application. It is intended to be used in image handling workflow for RAW formatted digital files.

The software is capable of editing images in both JPEG and RAW file formats. It is also equipped with technology that pre-determines the editing style that can be done to a specific digital file. It can manipulate a batch of digital files simultaneously and save them according to the users’ preferred formats. The specific characteristics of the cameras used can also be one of the bases for the saving option.

The LightZone software is also regarded as a non-destructive editor as it treats each digital file as non-editable. This means the changes done on one file is saved separately so as to leave the original file unaltered. By doing so, the ‘digital negative’ stays preserved.
The metadata references of a JPEG file is likewise saved as it contains essential information about the file itself. Undoing the changes made is also possible with the software giving more flexibility to the user.
