What is JPEGCompress?

Dreamscape Software’s JPEGCompress utility is for those who want to reduce the sizes of their JPEG image files with varying levels of quality loss. Obviously, less compression results in less quality loss, and to that end, the program can actually be used to produce image files smaller than the originals but which also have hardly any noticeable image quality issues. Only when users begin to truly ramp up compression do artifacts and noise begin to appear in their images, but that is usually the tradeoff for smaller file sizes.

JPEGCompress allows users to perform image compression without any complex operations: all the user needs is his mouse, with which he can control a slider on the program’s main window. This slider sets the image compression level. The program actually does a little more than perform compression of images, though. It can also be used for some basic image-altering operations, such as rotation and flipping of the image. Users can also use the program to change the image’s (as opposed to the image file’s) actual size. Furthermore, the program is capable of performing batch compression on multiple images.
