What is ExpressScribe?
Developed by NCH Software, ExpressScribe is digital transcription software that runs on both Windows and Mac operating systems. The program is an audio player that can assist in the transcription of audio recordings. Transcription can be hastened if the program is coupled with a professional foot pedal audio controller.
ExpressScribe offers a wide array of features such as variable speed playback, multi-channel control, playing video, and file management among others. In addition, it offers audio and video playback as well as supports and plays audio formats such as WAV, MP3, WMA, and DCT, including encrypted dictation files. The program can also dock both analog and digital portable voice recorders to load recordings. It also works with Microsoft Word and all major word-processors.
ExpressScribe can automatically receives and loads files by internet (FTP), email or over a local computer network. It can also send typing to those who dictated the work. Furthermore, the program works with speech recognition software such as Dragon Naturally Speaking to automatically convert speech to text. Additionally, it works with FastFox text expander for entering medical or legal phrases and common phrases with the use of keyboard.
