What is Electronic Technician?

Caterpillar Electronic Technician, also known as Cat ET, is a diagnostic software that is required to communicate, diagnose, and service electronically controlled Caterpillar machines and engines. When the software is connected to an Electronic Control Module, a technician can have the ability to diagnose existing and potential problems, configure the product, and get data for analyzing. This software requires an IBM PC that is compatible with Pentium IV, a 2.4 GHz processor, 2GB of RAM and available hard disk drive or higher, and Windows XP professional.

The Cat ET displays parameter status, active diagnostics, clear and view logged diagnostics. It can perform calibrations and diagnostic tests. It can print reports as well as diagnostic results. It displays current total information, fuel consumption, and operating hours. It also uploads new software to ECMs. The Cat ET also uses an integration to help files, and creates engine warranty reports. Caterpillar usually mails three software updates to each user once a year. Each computer requires a software license. This software license also expires annually. A Cat Communications Adapter is needed in order to connect a computer to the equipment.
